My PC won't stay in Standby Mode

I like to put my PC in standby mode at night. It worked for a long time and
now, the PC wakes itself up in the middle of the night. At first I thought a
cat may have moved the mouse or stepped on the keyboard but I have proved
that not to be the case. I don't recall changing anything. This started a
few months ago and has gradually gotten worse. Any suggestions?

This may come from some software running on your computer at the same
time. See "How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in
Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310560).

Also check the settings for each of the devices in device manager.
Right click My Computer, choose Properties, Hardware, Device Manager.
Expand the entry for each device entry , and double click on the device
which will bring up the properties applet. Look for a tab called Power
Management. Uncheck any settings to allow the device to bring the
computer out of stanby.

Also check the BIOS settings for any "Wake On" settings and disable
those.
