I have got Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 installed on my PC. (Pentium 4)
Recently, I have installed the service pack SP1 a from windows support site.
After this I check the General tab in My Computer. It does not display SP1a
in the System section.
Why this is happening,if anyone can help me ??

Regards,
Pradeep

From Start menu, select run, type in WINVER
Write down & post back the long string "Version 5.1................"

Where did you get SP1a ? and why does this not have SP2 ?

Here is long string after running WINVER
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpclient.010817-1148)

I got the SP1a from windows upate site after doing google search on
Service Pack 1. I went for SP1 as I thought before doing SP2 I should have SP1
installed.
Thanks, Pradeep

You don't need to have SP1 too install SP2.

Point taken, Frank.
But I am still not able to figure out why the General tab does not show
SP1a as installed.
I needed the SP1a or higher as I am trying to install USB driver software
on my machine for conneting to my mobile phone for data transfer.
The USB driver software needs Windows XP SP1 or higher version installed
on the machine.
Now, that I have installed SP1a on my machine, the USB driver software program
still gives the same error saying "You need to have Windows XP SP1 or higher
installed"

Thanks anyways for your time.

It's a minor point as to why it does not show SP1a in the General Tab.
I'd recommend you get Service Pack 2 because it includes several security issues.
Once you complete getting SP2, you can revisit the USB driver issue.

Do a liitle reading before getting SP2. See tips at Aumha.org on preparing for SP2.

Look at the Pre-Installation Recommendations

Thanks for your time, Maurice.
I will now install SP2 also and see how it goes. I will update this thread
with the results.
