advanced search...
Is there anyway to get XP to do an "advanced search" by default? That is,
to make XP search hidden/system files and folders by default?
Have a look at this ... will customize alot more than ur search function
from a clean install.

might search Microsoft for TweakOmatic

Set up your Advanced Search Options to include these. The setting should
stick. If not, set Folder Options> View to permanently expose these.
Personally, I prefer using a different find tool, File Locator Pro
(shareware). The same vendor offers a free program Agent Ransack. You'll
find both at http://www.mythicsoft.com

I'm not sure if this will do what I'm looking for. It also seems fairly
complicated just to change a search setting.

I gave TweakOMatic a try and it doesn't do exactly what I'm looking for.
TweakOMatic can toggle the options for these but I still would have to check
"Advanced" each and everytime I search. It's obviously not a big deal to
hit a check mark but I would like it to search everything by default.

The (sub)settings do stick but XP does not remember to leave the Advanced
option itself checked. I would prefer just to continue using XP's built in
search tool, but I may end up checking out the tools you suggest.

Scroll down to where it reads....
Search - Advanced Options (Set as Default)
Download this .vbs file and save it to your Windows Directory. Once done,
download this .reg file, and run it.
