Hi All,

I have a lot of "$NtUninstallxxxxxx$" and "$NtServicePackUninstall$" folders
on C:\WINDOWS directory after installing windowsxp SP2, but they occupy a
lot of spaces of disk, can I delete these folders to release the spaces?

Thanks in advance,

Rabbit.

Certainly...if you do not plan on uninstalling any of the
updates or most recently installed SP. If there is another
partition, it is possible to move the uninstall files out
of Drive C and retain the uninstall capability with a bit
of registry editing.

Hi Rabbit

Those are the files that are required to uninstall the particular Service
Pack or Hotfix that is referenced, by MSKB article number, in the filename.
If you are confident that the update was successful and that you won't be
wanting to uninstall it, then yes, you can safely delete the file.

If you also would like to remove the lines, in Add/Remove Programs in
Control Panel, that relate to each of the updates for which you have deleted
the $NTUninstall file, select the reference to the item and then click on
the Remove button. XP will attempt to locate the uninstall file and, when
the file cannot be found, it will return an "error" message and ask you if
you wish to remove the entry from Add/Remove Programs.

Regards,
