Saved views are the customizations you have applied to folders. For some
people, the loss of these saved views would be catastrophic. If default
views for your folders would not create a problem, then use the first
solution.

Saved Views is how you have a folder setup, for example, you may have
the contents of a folder /directory/ listed as details instead of icons.

THANK YOU!!! This common task thing was driving me mad. Dell wanted to
charge me $50. And now not only did I get what I wanted but I've also
learned how to backup my registry. THANKS again.

By the way. I know it's kind of late to be asking now but what are the
consequents for not having these two keys?

The consequence is you will lose all your "saved views". These subkeys
will be recreated when you restart your system, so you can save your
folder views.

There is likely no consequence that you would notice, kind of like your
appendix.
There are Registry edits that involve recreating or changing these keys (did
not seem too hard to do).
I found this by googling.

I assume your asking about ...\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU and ....\ShellNoRoam\Bags.

Even if you delete them, you won't be without them for long. They will be recreated the next time you open Explorer.

They store the saved views. BagMRU is an index: BagMRU itself represents the desktop, each subkey represents a subfolder. The "nodeslot" value in a subkey is the number corresponding to the numbered subkeys of Bags. Each numbered subkey of Bags contains the view info for a particular folder.
