Help, cant figure it out! During boot up of the computer ..everything loads
up getting to the windows page with all the icons and background ..BUT the
"MY Documents" folder opens up and displays. Does anyone know where I might
have clicked a block where the start up commands tells the computer to open
my documents page on start-up. this computer does have multiple user accounts
that can log on. Any help/suggestions appreciated!

To begin with, see if you have somehow placed a link in the "startup"
folder.

In addition to Richard's advice, this can also be caused by an erroneous Registry entry.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Look in the right pane for a value called "Userinit". The Data for this value should read:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

including the comma at the end. If it doesn't read this way, change it. Of course, if for some reason your Windows installation is not on the C: drive, or in the Windows folder, modify the path accordingly.

Right click on the start menu icon in the left corner . Click on properties .
Click on the Start Menu tab . Click customize . Click Advanced tab . You will
see Start Menu Items . Scroll down to My Documents . Now click the circle
next to " Don't Display this Item " and then click OK . Hope this helps , PAt
.. P. S . You might want ot make sure that everything else is right by
scrolling up and down and reading what it says under each title . If it does
not suit you then change it .

Pat, no offense but that will only keep the icon for My Documents from
displaying on the desktop, it won't keep the folder from opening, that's
another issue which others have offered possible solutions for.
