Norton Internet Security and Windows Security Center

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and have NIS 2005
installed. I have Windows Firewall disabled because I am using Norton's
firewall. My problem is this: When I boot the computer I get a "Warning"
message from Windows Security Center telling me that that I have no security
protection, even though NIS 2005 is running (and all current updates are
installed). I read in these posts that WSC doesn't recognize NAV. Is this
also the case with NIS 2005? Can I resolve this issue by stopping WSC
Antivirus monitoring? Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Hi

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot, or you want to disable the Security Center totally,
you can do the following:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.

Thanks. I'll look into it.

I had NOrton on Windows 2000 and after buying and installing Windows XP , I
started having having all kinds of problems with warnings . I went to
Norton's website and contacted them . I found out that a lot of people were
having the same problem and that I should have unintalled Norton first ,
installed Windows XP and then reinstalled Norton . Like I'm a " Genius " . I
went to search and typed in Norton , I got so many folders . I even got
folders labeled Symantec . Symantec owns Norton . You can also go to
Symantec's website . Do Not Uninstall or delete anything concerning Norton
until you go to SEARCH . Type in NOrton , Symantec , and anti-virus just to
see what you have . I just uninstalled what I found in " Add and Remove
Programs " but that did not work . I still have a little warning that comes
around once in a while called Norton.LGC . After your search , look for the
Uninstall Application . What you want to do is Uninstall Norton completely
and then Reinstall it if you want to . I will never use Norton again . It
almost ruined my system . I don't know how experienced you are but if you
have any doubts about it then go to www.norton.com or www.symantec.com and
look for contact or help and send them a message letting them know what your
problem is and they will email you back with instructions . It was too late
for me but maybe you can get some help and it will work . Good Luck , Pat
