stop smtp service

hi,

i am using xp professional sp 2, i run services.msc and then fund the smtp
serivce, i stop it and disable it. however i still can send email. in fact i
wish i can receive email not sending email, is it possible ??

Hi,

The SMTP service is part of IIS, it would no effect on whether or not you
could recieve email from your service provider. It would only be used if you
set up your own mail server.
