Dear Newbie,
Sounds like it could be a heat related issue. This could be anything
from the power supply going South, dust and clogged fans, cpu, ram,
video card, or pci cards not seated properly.
The description you gave of your problem is akin to someone saying, " I
went out to go to work and my car wouldn't start, what's the cause?"

If I were _with_ you, we could take the side of the case off, look for
physical problems, download anti spyware programs like Ad-Aware SE
Personal,
'Ad-Aware' (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/)
Spybot Search & Destroy, 'Spybot-S&D'
(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html) and do an online virus
scan,
'Trend Micro HouseCall'
(http://www.trendmicro.com/en/home/us/personal.htm) You may also want
to find a friend that has enough computer knowledge to check if WOL
(Wake on Lan) is enabled in your bios.
Good Luck,
Treeman
