dial up modem error 6 handle is invalid

This is displayed when connecting to ISP after handshakes etc
win xp pro on Toshiba laptop with internal modem.
Tried external modem same result
also get error 50 request not supported sometimes.
This is a common problem discussed on many groups, but noone seems to have
an answer.
cant find any info on Errors 6 & 50 which points to possible causes, seems
like nobody understands this.

Fixed the problem by reinstalling windows XP.
