PRB: Evaluation copy displayed on XPE desktop

My XPE desktop displays "Evaluation copy. build2600.xpsp1.020828-1920()" in
the lower right corner. Have I installed an evaluation copy of Microsoft
Windows Embedded Studio using the product key for the full version that was
purchased? Can I correct this short of finding the correct copy of the
installation for the product key?

John,

Only way for you to get non eval image is to install non-eval version of XPe
data base and tools.
If you have installed eval version you will have to unistall it completely
(includin DB) and then do clean install.

After that you can rebuild your project.

Slobodan

John in FL,

I think what you mean here is that purchased a Windows Embedded Studio
Toolkit but when you build the image it says you have a evaluation copy.
This is because you have not entered a Run-time Image License (PID) in your
project in Target Designer. Under the Project, click on settings and look
for "Run-time Image License". You get the PID off the COA XPe
license....yes this means you need to purchase at least on XPe license.

If you are running a Eval copy of the Toolkit the Run-time Image license
option will not be available.

I can and did enter a runtime PID in TD and the warning message aboutt the
license expiring stopped but the evaluation copy message is on the desktop.

I inheirited this task after the owner of the task had been RIF'ed, so I
installed from where I found the installer on the former owner's machine
since the CD set could not be found. So I got what I got. I assume that
initially he may have worked from an eval version and then the company
purchased the full release. I am working to track the purchase now and see
if I can find the full release version of the tools CD.

The resolution to this problem was the run-time PID, not the tools product
key. Though TD did not warn that the image was evaluation and would expire
as it did when no PID was used, the PID I had been given was apparently not
valid or only an evaluation PID. I have since built the project with a
current PID and the evaluation copy message is now gone.
