when i go to the update page to check for udates i need, it says that it is
checking for the newest version of windows update software. but it never gets
past that page. it doesn't try to update the actual update software, and i
can't get to the list of available windows OS updates. is there a way around
this? something i am possibly doing wrong? please help!

Do you have active X enabled in internet options>security tab?

I am having the same problem is there anybody that knows whats going on and
how to fix it

Tried the active x and it hasnt fixed the problem
