Intermittent RDP Logon - Black Screen

Situation:

Cannot logon to my office box through RDP using VPN, from various locations.
I find that disabling and Enabling NAT-Traversal on my VPN router (Netscreen
5XP), will help to resolve the issue. It seems to occur when I'm out and
about traveling and the router where I am at has something going on in
particular causing me to have to establish VPN, change the NAT settings,
then process my connection. The ports open fine (3389), but the view data
never arrives. Sometimes, changing the NAT settings doesn't work at all and
all I get is a black screen with the IP drop tab at the top. I've also seen
this happen to VNC as well. I know others experience this issue, does
anybody know why? I've tried to utilize DMZ on routers to which I have
access to when I'm out and about, and it still doesn't work. Is the world
just full of more chintzy routers than I'd hoped?
