Yes... That could be a solution. It schould be possible to have the
repository and database on two machines on the network. I think I will try
set this up.
But I'm not a big database, CMI etc. guru, so do you know any good links,
where I can read on this stuff ??

Well.. My point was that having two servers running on your network won't
require any deep knowledge on the setup. You just install SP1 database on
first server, SP2 - on second.
CDM - COmponent Database Manager. If you open it, you will see a feild there
to change the path to the database server. You can use it to easy switch
between databases (certainly, you will have to reload any XPe tool (TD, CD)
after you change the path).

PS. You don't need to mess up with CMI - it is undocumented anyway - unless
you want to create some complex scripts for your custom components.
