[Breadstick]

When I insert a blank CD-RW disc into the CD drive, the "pie wheel" registers
empty. After copying any size file to the disc, the wheel registers
"complelely full". The task pane on the left does display the amount of space
remaining on the disc. A CD-R disc, however, DOES display the pie wheel
properly as it should. Can anyone explain why this happens. Thanks.

You are likely burning the CD-Rs with Multi-sessions. The CD-RWs you may be
using the built in functionality Windows XP comes with.. I think if you
used/had a packet-writing software installed, Windows XP would treat te
CD-RW disc differently.
